9:30 AM – “What Agricultural Impacts will the U.S. Likely Experience in 2017” Al Dutcher, Ag. Extension Climatologist

Weak La Nina conditions have developed over the past two months and is likely to influence atmospheric weather pattern during our North American winter, but considerable uncertainty exists in regards to its influence as we head into next spring.  This talk will explore where dryness issues are most prevalent and whether these areas will be a precursor to localized dryness during the 2017 growing season.  We will also examine what areas of the country will enter the spring planting season with an abundance of moisture that could cause planting issues, but also could result in above normal yields given consistent rain events.  We will also explore the possibility that the current La Nina event will extend further into the year than currently forecasted and what type of interaction between the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean may develop as we head into the heart of the 2017 growing season.

10:40 AM – “Grain Market Outlook” Ed Prosser, Chief Trade & Risk Officer, Gavilon LLC

1:00 PM – “Ag Trends, Topics & Tomorrow” Damian Mason, Keynote Ag Business Speaker

Damian Mason is an entertaining and informative speaker with a message for the people of Agriculture. Damian understands the business of food, fuel, and fiber production because he’s lived it. He had his first job at age 8, bottle-feeding calves on the Indiana dairy farm where he was raised. Like many children of agriculture, he was involved in FFA and was a ten year 4-H member. Damian has a degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. He has also studied comedy writing and improvisation at The Second City in Chicago. Few people are hilariously funny and farm knowledgeable. Damian is both! He’s delivered insightful Ag commentary to the most recognizable names and organizations in the agricultural industry. He will be sure to inform and entertain the member-owners of Farmway Co-op.
