"Independence"

In July we celebrated “Independence Day”.  Thanks to the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, we have the freedoms that we so enjoy in this country and many times take for grant it.  They had a vision for their future as well as the future generations to come.  They set their individual pursuits to one side and looked out for what was best for the entire 13 colonies.  They wanted to be independent of England and to establish a country with high morals and ethics.

Hirsch, Hanel receive scholarships

Brock Hanel, Courtland, and Amanda Hirsch, Glasco, are the Farmway Co-op Scholarship recipients for the 2004-05 school year.

These two students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from Farmway Co-op, Inc.

Better than anticipated yields;
it was a good wheat harvest

Perhaps the word to best describe the wheat harvest of 2004 will go down in the annals of history as "unusual".

            It was an average wheat crop overall with some exceptional yields in some areas of north central Kansas. There was hail and thunderstorms in the Cloud and Republic county areas in May and rain throughout the Farmway Co-op trade territory of Mitchell, Lincoln, Cloud, Republic, Washington and surrounding counties during harvest made for one of the more interesting harvests in recent years.
