Cenex's "Total Protection Plan"
a must for your farm equipment

Jerry Seibold, Clay Center, is very glad that he is enrolled in Cenex’s Total Protection Plan®.

It’s a small investment to make in exchange for valuable coverage and peace of mind.

“I relate the program to buying crop insurance,” Siebold said. “For no more than it costs, $11.50-$12 for an oil sample, it’s well worth the money.”

            Seibold should know.

He has been on the Total Protection Plan since 1989 when it was under Farmland Industries and now with Cenex. It wasn’t until this past crop year when it really paid off for him.

They had sent in an oil lube sample on their Herlimann SX1350 tractor and it came back showing anti freeze in one sample and high copper and zinc in another.

“We pulled two samples at regular intervals (150 hours) and we pulled another at 50 hours and another at 25 hours,” he said. “We wanted to see if the samples cleared out. They didn’t, and after some research we found we had a leak around the pistons.”

The tractor had been on the Total Protection Plan since the tractor was new.

“This was the first time we’d every had anything show up in our oil samples since we’d been on the program,” Seibold said. “Looking back, I really appreciate those samples and what they can show.”

The total cost of the repairs on the tractor was $6,000 and he received a check from Cenex for $4,457.

“I’m real pleased with how it turned out,” he said. “I’ve also very pleased with the way Cenex handled the situation. It’s paid us to be on the program. We use Cenex oil and we may as well be enrolled in the Total Protection Plan program.”
